The free trial
Updated Sep 10, 20263 min read
Hype Bundles gives you 7 free days on a paid tier. Below 101 paid orders in a cycle you pay nothing anyway, for as long as you stay there — so the trial only matters once your store crosses into a paid tier.
How the two free things differ
The free tier is permanent. A store that takes 100 or fewer paid orders in a 30-day cycle is not charged. It does not expire, it does not need renewing, and dropping back below 101 in a later cycle makes that cycle free again.
The trial is 7 days, once, starting when you approve the subscription. During it, nothing is charged even if your orders cross into Starter, Growth or Scale. When it ends, normal tier pricing applies to the cycle you are in.
Starting the trial
The trial starts automatically when you approve the subscription in Shopify. There is no separate button and no card to enter — Shopify already has your billing details and charges Hype on your regular Shopify invoice.
While the trial is running, the Plan page shows Free trial until with the date it ends.
What happens when it ends
The trial simply stops. Nothing is charged at the moment it ends. From then on the cycle is billed the ordinary way: at the highest tier your paid-order count reaches, or nothing at all if you are still under 101 orders.
If you do not want to continue, cancel from the Plan page before the trial ends. See Cancelling and refunds.
Extending the trial with a code
A discount code can add days to your trial. Redeem it on the Plan page before you approve the subscription, under Have a discount code?. When the code is a trial extension, the page confirms the new length. See Discount codes for your plan.
Launch offers replace the trial
From time to time Hype runs a launch offer: a flat price for your first 30-day cycle instead of the 7 free days. When one is running, you get the offer and not the trial — they do not stack.
You will know because the Plan page says so on the choice you are about to approve, in the form "$1 for your first 30 days, then by orders", with the offer's real amount. The charge appears in Billing history as Launch offer.
A launch offer is granted once per store. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not grant it a second time.
Cases where there is no trial
- You are replacing another Hype subscription. Switching from one Hype plan to another — including moving up to Hype Suite — does not restart the trial. You already had it.
- A launch offer is running. See above.
- Your store has free access. If Hype has granted your store free access until a date, nothing is charged before then and there is nothing for a trial to cover. The Plan page names the date.
- You are on a development store. Subscriptions on Shopify development stores are created as test subscriptions, so nothing is ever charged there, with or without a trial.
