Hype Bundles

Enable the app embed

Updated Sep 10, 20263 min read

Hype Bundles runs on your storefront through a theme app embed called Hype. Until that embed is turned on in your published theme and saved, nothing Hype Bundles does is visible to shoppers — no matter how the offer itself is configured.

Turn it on

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
  2. On the theme your customers see, click Customize.
  3. In the left sidebar of the theme editor, click the App embeds icon (the jigsaw-piece toggle list at the bottom).
  4. Find Hype in the list and switch its toggle on.
  5. Click Save.

The faster route is from inside the app: the setup guide on the home page has an Enable in theme button that opens the theme editor with the embed already selected. You still have to toggle it on and click Save.

Check it worked

The app's home page shows an App Embeds card reading, for example, "You have 1/1 embeds active". Click it to see each embed's status. An embed that is off shows Inactive with an Enable button beside it.

If the card still says the embed is inactive after you saved, the app is almost certainly looking at a different theme. Fix that next.

Tell Hype which theme to check

Go to Settings → Theme. The picker there answers the question "select the theme where we should check if embeds and app blocks are turned on". It controls the status card only — it does not change where the embed runs. The embed runs wherever it is enabled and saved.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Under Theme, click the theme selector.
  3. Choose the theme your customers see. The published theme is marked (Current theme).
  4. Use Preview Theme if you are not sure which one it is.

This matters most when you build on a duplicate theme. If you enable the embed on the duplicate but Hype is checking the published theme — or the other way around — the status card and your storefront disagree.

Demo themes cannot be verified

If you select a demo theme, Settings shows:

This is a DEMO theme, so we can't verify whether Hype is enabled. Please ensure it's enabled in your theme settings.

Shopify does not expose the settings of a demo theme to apps, so Hype cannot read whether the embed is on there and the status card cannot tell you. This is a Shopify restriction, not a Hype one. On a demo theme, open the theme editor and check the App embeds list yourself.

What the embed does and does not do

  • It loads Hype's storefront script on every page of your store. That is what makes offers, banners, progress bars and drawers work.
  • It does not place anything on a page by itself. Blocks that appear in a specific spot — a banner, a price block, a progress bar — are added separately in the theme editor, on each template where you want them.
  • Turning it off stops every Hype Bundles offer on the storefront at once. It is the cleanest way to pause the app without uninstalling it.

After you save

Shopify caches storefront pages on its CDN, so an embed you just enabled can take a moment to show up for shoppers. Hard-refresh the storefront, and see Changes take a while to appear if it persists.
