Creating your first offer
Updated Sep 10, 20263 min read
Hype Bundles needs three things before a shopper sees anything: the Hype app embed turned on in your theme, an offer that is saved, and that offer set to Active. The home page walks you through it with a two-step checklist called Get started with Hype Bundles.
Step 1 — Turn on the app embed
Nothing renders on the storefront until the embed is on. It is the only script the app loads page-wide.
- Open Hype Bundles from your Shopify admin.
- On the home page, find the Enable Hype Bundles app embed task and click Enable in theme. The theme editor opens with the embed already selected.
- In the theme editor's App embeds panel, switch on the embed named Hype.
- Click Save in the theme editor.
The task ticks itself once the app can see the embed enabled. If you skip the checklist, the same thing is offered by the App Embeds card and by the warning banner Enable the Hype Bundles embed block.
The embed has a few settings you will not normally touch: API Proxy link (default /apps/hype-bundles), Hide Decimals for Whole Numbers, Enable debug logs, plus Custom CSS and Custom JS boxes. For more detail, see Enable the app embed.
Step 2 — Point Hype at the right theme
Hype checks one theme when it reports whether the embed is on.
- Go to Settings in the app.
- Under Theme, either tick Always use the current theme — which follows whichever theme is published, even after you switch themes — or pick a specific theme from the list.
- Click Save.
If you enabled the embed on a theme other than the one selected here, the app will keep telling you the embed is off. On a demo theme the app cannot verify anything and says so.
Step 3 — Create an offer
- On the home page (Offers), click Create offer.
- The Create an offer page shows one card per storefront style, each rendering the real block: Volume discount · Tiles, Stacked volume discount, Fixed bundle · Showcase, Fixed bundle · Lineup, Bought together, Add-ons and Mix & match. Poke at a preview to see how it behaves.
- Optionally set the Theme and accent color in the top right. Whatever you pick restyles every card and travels into the wizard as the new offer's starting design.
- Click Choose on the card you want.
Not sure which to pick? See Which offer type should I use?.
Step 4 — Fill in the wizard
The wizard has two steps, shown in the sidebar:
- Bundle (or Offer for a volume discount) — products, quantities and pricing.
- Blocks — storefront appearance and placement.
Fill in the first step and click Save in the save bar, then Next. On the Blocks step, set where the block appears, then click Finish.
Step 5 — Activate it
Finish opens a prompt: Activate this campaign? It explains the offer is saved as a draft.
- Activate now publishes it. Hype creates the hidden wrapper product the merged cart line uses, installs its cart transform and adds the offer to its automatic discount, then returns you to the list.
- Keep as draft leaves it alone. You can turn it on later from the list with the row action Enable.
An active offer shows the Active badge on the home list; a draft shows Draft.
What to check next
- Open a product page the offer targets and confirm the block renders. If it does not, work through Bundle isn't showing on my store.
- Add the bundle to the cart and confirm the merged line and the discount. See How bundles appear in the cart and at checkout.
Changes to a live offer reach the storefront within 10 minutes. To see them immediately, go to Settings → Cache and click Clear Cache.
