Wrong price in the cart

Updated Sep 10, 20264 min read

The bundle saving is applied to the merged cart line and shown as a crossed-out price. If the number is not what you expected, check these in order.

1. Look at checkout, not just the cart

The merge and the discount happen on Shopify's side. Some themes render the cart from data captured before that runs, so the cart page can briefly show the individual products at full price. Checkout is the authority — confirm the price there before treating it as a bug.

2. Did the lines merge at all?

If checkout shows the products as separate lines, the group was not merged and so was never discounted. That happens when:

  • Fewer than two lines were added. A merge needs at least two. On an Add-ons offer, a shopper who ticks a single extra and adds nothing else gets nothing merged.
  • The selection does not satisfy the bundle's rules. For a fixed bundle, the right products at the right proportions; for mix & match, the min and max picks in every category; for frequently bought together, an anchor product inside your Show on targeting. Hype checks the group before merging and refuses one that does not match — this is deliberate, and it is what stops shoppers from editing cart properties to fake a discount.
  • The cart predates the offer. A cart assembled before the bundle went live carries no bundle tags. Ask the shopper to empty the cart and re-add.

3. Was the bundle re-saved after the price change?

Open the bundle, confirm the value in Bundle pricing is what you intend, and click Save. Then either wait up to 10 minutes or go to Settings → Cache and click Clear Cache.

Carts that were built before the change keep the old price until they are rebuilt.

4. Is it a Set price that does nothing?

A Set price that is higher than the components' combined price is skipped rather than applied — the shopper pays the normal total, with no strikethrough. Check the components' current prices against your set price. This bites when a component's price rises after the bundle was configured.

Similar edge cases by type:

  • A Fixed discount is capped at the line subtotal, so it can never take the price below zero.
  • A Percentage discount is clamped to 0–100.
  • No discount groups the products into one line at full price, on purpose.

5. Is another discount also applying?

Check your Shopify Discounts page for other active discounts touching the same products. Two discounts can combine when both allow each other's type, and the result may be lower than you intended.

If you also run volume discounts in this app, they deliberately skip merged bundle lines, so those two will not stack on the same line. Discounts from other apps and from Shopify itself have no such rule.

6. Is the shared discount still there?

Every bundle prices through a single automatic discount in your Shopify admin named Hype Bundle Discount (Do not delete). If it was deleted or deactivated in Shopify, no bundle gets a saving.

  1. In Shopify, open Discounts and look for it.
  2. If it is deactivated, activate it.
  3. If it is gone, open any bundle in Hype and click Save — it is recreated.

Do not edit that discount in Shopify. Hype rewrites its contents whenever an offer is saved.

7. Wrong amount in one market

If Customize amounts for each market is ticked in Target markets, each market can carry its own Fixed discount or Bundle price. Open the value field to see the per-market rows and check the market in question. Markets with no override use the default value converted at the exchange rate in force at checkout, so the converted figure will not be a round number.

Percentages are a single value everywhere and do not have this problem.

What to send to support

If none of the above explains it, send: the offer's name, a screenshot of checkout showing the line and the price, the products and variants the shopper added, and the market or currency they were shopping in.
