Fixed bundle

Updated Sep 10, 20264 min read

A Fixed bundle sells a set of products you choose at one bundled price. The shopper adds the whole set in one click and chooses only variants. In the cart the components merge into a single line with a crossed-out price.

A fixed bundle needs at least two products.

Create one

  1. From the home page, click Create offer.
  2. Choose Fixed bundle · Showcase or Fixed bundle · Lineup. You can change the style later.
  3. In Bundle components, click Add products and pick the products in the set.
  4. Set a Quantity for each row — how many of that product the bundle contains.
  5. Optionally narrow variants: click the edit icon on a row to choose which of that product's variants the bundle allows. The default is All variants, and the shopper picks.
  6. Fill in Bundle product name. This is shown as the bundle line in the cart and at checkout.
  7. In Bundle pricing, choose a Discount type and value, and fill in Discount name. See Pricing a bundle.
  8. In Show on, choose which product pages the bundle appears on.
  9. Click Save, then Next, set the placement on the Blocks step, and click Finish.

The two styles

Pick under Storefront style on the first step.

Showcase — the products' images side by side with one combined price. Because the images sit side by side there is no room for a variant selector on each product, so Showcase always asks for variants in a popup on add to cart.

Lineup / Routine — a vertical list of the included products, one row per product, like a routine. Lineup can show variant selectors inline or in a popup.

How customers pick variants

If any product in the bundle has more than one allowed variant, the shopper has to choose. Under Storefront style, Variant selection offers:

  • Inline picker — a variant selector on each product row.
  • Popup on add to cart — a popup asks the customer to pick variants before adding.

Showcase only offers the popup. Lineup offers both, with the inline picker as its default.

Where the shopper is not asked — because a product allows only one variant, or the block does not have a picker — Hype uses the first in-stock variant that your variant narrowing allows.

Where it appears

Show on decides which product pages the block mounts on:

  • Specific products — the product pages you pick, one or many.
  • Specific collections — every product page in the picked collections. Products added to a collection later are included automatically.
  • All products — every product page in your store.

The Blocks step decides where on those pages it sits — automatically near add to cart, or at a placement anchor you put in the theme. See Where bundles appear.

What the customer gets

Adding the bundle adds every component at its configured quantity. If a shopper adds the same bundle twice with different variant picks, the two additions stay separate and are each priced as one bundle.

In the cart and at checkout the component lines merge into one line titled with your Bundle product name, showing a strikethrough saving labelled with your Discount name. See How bundles appear in the cart and at checkout.

Limits worth knowing

  • Two products minimum. A one-product bundle cannot be saved, and would not merge anyway.
  • Sold-out components block the bundle. If a product in the set has no in-stock allowed variant, its row is tagged Sold out and the add-to-cart button is disabled. See Sold-out products and inventory.
  • Quantities are fixed. The shopper cannot change how many of each product the bundle contains. To offer choice, use Mix & match.
  • Bundles are always automatic. There is no discount-code option for a bundle.

Behind the scenes

When you activate a fixed bundle, Hype creates a hidden wrapper product in your catalog. It is unlisted, priced at $0 and published to the Online Store — this is the product the merged cart line is built from. Do not delete or unpublish it. Renaming the bundle renames it; deleting the bundle archives it.
